Revolutions and Enlightenment in England and America have succesfully changed the way the people and the Government interact. Each of these 'Revolutions' led to future changes in government, but each revolution had its own unique impact.
1. Identify one major change that occured from each 'Revolution': English, American, and Enlightenment. (Questions that might help- What are the lasting impacts from these revolutions? How were the finished governments different from the starting governments? What new idea about government came out of each of these Revolutions?)

In the English government people realized that they had the power to overthrow and choose there own king. This gave the people major power. In the Enlightment, people realized that the king was not chosen by god but by the people. This caused a seperation of church and state which ultimately changes all political power. In the American revolution, people got together to make the common people the voice of the country. The realized that it was best to be ruled equally by the people and not monarchly by a king or corrupt government.

The revolution caused many changes in American, English, and from the enlightenment ideas. It changed the relationship between people and government through freedom. The American Revolution was an example of a society disagreeing with its amount of freedom. America wanted to become free and different from its mother country. This led to the revolution and the change that came from it is a nation without 1 ruler but groups of equal leaders making decisions hearing all people's voice in a society. The English revolution changed the power that the king had. King Charles I wanted to have absolute power, the people didn’t want him to have absolute power because the king did not listen to the people. The change that came from the revolution is for the people to chose a king. The enlightenment was the change from god ruling everything and being the state. The change the enlightenment caused is the shift from the church and state. The church was the law and the people had no say in how the government was. These government changed from the starting government through the freedom that the people now had. People could chose a king or have a vote.

One major change from the English revolution was the newfound belief that the people should choose the king, or choose how the king rules through representation in parliament. One major change from the American revolution was the building of America, which would become the most powerful nation on Earth, but also the belief in standing up to corrupt governments, especially if they are imposing unfair laws or taxes on a people who have little say in the government. One major change from the enlightenment was the belief that Kings were no longer chosen by God, so people could now feel comfortable criticizing the King, as they had chose them. People also started to believe more in logic and scientific reason, rather than God being the cause for all things natural. All three of shifts in thought have caused people to be more aware of the democratic power they possess, and has also allowed for fair governments to form, rather than governments that have a central leader with absolute power.

A major change that happened after the English Revolution (Civil War) is the increased representation in Parliament. Also, England went through a period where they didn’t experience a monarchy and instead had a Commonwealth. Also, even after the monarchy was reinstated, the people knew that representation and constant talks within Parliament were important, so they didn’t settle for anything less. Lastly, people, through Parliament, had the ability to veto any orders that the king enacted that they didn’t support. The American Revolution started an entire new country and the newest, and most formal, democracy. Luckily, this form of government has stayed the same since the beginning of the United States. A new idea that came out of this revolution is the fact that different branches of government should be able to check each other at any given point. In America, this is called checks and balances and occurs between the legislative, executive, and judicial branch. The Enlightenment was a period of time where people started to believe that people made their own decisions and that God wasn’t doing everything. Specifically, people started to discredit the idea of the Divine Right of Kings. Also, the Enlightenment also allowed for the separation of church and state. Now, rulers couldn’t be influenced or blame any of their decisions on God and/or their beliefs.

The 3 Revolutions that occurred were the Enlightenment, American, and English Revolution. Each of these Revolutions had some kind of change or impact. The American Revolution impacted change because they formed a new kind of government called a confederation which helped level the power plain field meaning that every “state” had equal power. The Enlightenment impacted because it was a time when people were coming to their senses, meaning logic and reason was starting to be used. The English Revolution had impact for a few reasons, one the glorious revolution, which was a change in power without blood shed. King James was not wanted on the throne any longer so they called in Mary his daughter and Mary’s husband to come and take over the throne. King Charles was another king that was overthrown but he was beheaded because parliament didn’t like the way that he was ruling, and that was a time that was significant because Parliament was becoming a power, and voice for the people.

In the English Revolution, the people wanted more representation. The people rebelled and as a result a new government was formed. This government allowed the people to have more of a say. The people got to choose the king, but had the power to remove the king if he didn’t rule the way they wanted. Before the revolution, the people just had to live with the king whether he was a good ruler or not. Now, the ruler is chosen by the people and the monarch has less power.

All three of these revolutions resulted in the idea of the people having a say in decisions made on a governmental level. The general public now believed that they should contribute to things like their leaders and laws they have to follow, this idea was a result of Both the English and American Revolutions and the Enlightenment. After the English Revolution took place, the king (or person of power) no longer had absolute power, they were subject to the approval of the people. The Enlightenment drove the separation of the church and state and this allowed even common-folk to seek an education and explain things using methods other than religion. The American Revolution had a huge impact on government and created what we know today as our modern-day democratic system. This Revolution allowed the people to elect officials and vote on different issues that concerned the way they were ruled.

One of the major changes that happened in each of these was that they were ruled all differently than previously or governed differently. The people and governments had all changed. From either being absolute such as the English, or being controlled by other countries such as America. To new systems ruled by many people and not just one major person or a country. The enlightenment had changed the people, in how they think and how they choose others to rule. In all these three, the people had changed the way the system was and who ruled it.

The English revolution led to people believing that they had the authority to choose who the king would be. God is not an excuse for a bad king. In The Glorious Revolution, people’s view points shifted from believing God was the explanation for everything, they then used logic and science to discover why things were the way they were. The American Revolution gave americans a set bill of rights and gave people more freedoms than before. The lasting impacts of the revolution are the bill of rights and using science. Governments are now influenced by the people where we all have a say.

During the British revolution the main idea was that the king had to lead as the people wanted to be led and that people had the right to a say. Before this revolution, their was an absolute king and after this, the parliament had more power.

A major change that occurred in the English Revolution was that Parliament received more power and influence than the monarchy. They had power to chose the ruler, the way they are ruled, and remove the ruler if they were not good enough. A major change that occurred in the Enlightenment was the separation of church and state. The church did not determine how state ruled and state did not determine how the church ran. The people started believing that everything was not connected with the church or religion. A major change that occurred in the American Revolution was that America gained independence from Britain. Before America had to abide by Britain's rules even though they did not get recognized as a part of Britain. They got to veer away from the idea of Monarchy and more towards a democratic government.

Revolutions have established many things that had a unique impact on Europe and how it was governed. The lasting impact of the Enlightenment was that people were actually thinking for themselves instead of being led like sheep, while the impact of the English revolution was a constitutional monarchy, while the American revolution created a new nation that prided itself on freedom. The Enlightenment changed European governments by limiting the church’s power, while the English revolution made parliament the head honcho instead of the king, and the American revolution set up a democracy instead of a constitutional monarchy. The Enlightenment established that people need to separate the church and state , while the English revolution showed that the people need to be in charge of their country so that anarchy doesn’t arise, and the American revolution showed that a lack of common freedom is a cause for revolution

After many revolutions such as the American, and British Revolutions new systems were formed to equlize the people of the kingdoms. For many hundreds of years kings had absolute power over. Like during the Enlightenment there was a shift of knowleage so which seperated law and religion from one another. The Enlightenment was after the Dark Ages, were people believed that God was the cause of everything that happened weather in be storms or illness breakouts. The British Revolution came up when the king abused his absolute power over the common people. After this revolution was over the people and Parlirment who remersented the people got more rights then they norinally had before. The Arerican revolution made a democercy system so that the people were given a right to speak. Over the many revolutions they all impacted governments over the world because now more then ever the people have a say.

In each revolution, there were many major changes. In the English Revolution, one major change that happened was the monarchy was taken over by Cromwell, and eventually replaced with a constitutional monarchy, where the king and Parliament had to work together. This was important because the ruler had always been absolute, and the people had nearly no say. After, if the king was becoming tyrannical or unlikeable, the people were able to get rid of him and get a new king. A major change from the American Revolution was Britain's colonies in America were tired of being treated unfairly and wanted to seperate. This caused a war, which impacted many different countries, like France, for example, but mostly Britain. We wouldn’t have our modern day government or many other countries modern day structures without America splitting from Britain and having to create their own government, which they wanted to be as equal as possible. Lastly, the Enlightenment changed society and government by separation of church and state, which meant the church and the king/government were no longer working together. This was important because the church and king were very powerful and the people had next to none.

The English Revolution brought a new way of governing where the king didn’t have absolute power and parliament shared ruling(Constitutional Monarchy). The people liked this because it gave them a voice and a choice as to how they were ruled. The Enlightenment brought ideas that God wasn’t the reason for everything. People started using logic and reasoning to explain natural occurrences in their world. They also had the separation of Church and State which meant the church couldn’t influence the government's ruling. The American Revolution brought a sense of liberty to the people but also brought a completely new government as well. They broke into states that could be governed under one central government and had a set of laws that everyone would follow(Constitution). They also had an elected leader instead of a leader by heredity.

The English Revolution lead to a balance between the people and the ruler of England. The revolution dissolved absolutism in England and gave the people and Parliament more power to keep the king in place.
