Louis XIV, Catherine II, Peter I were all absolute rulers. They all worked to improve absolute control. Louis is known as the Sun God as he grew up being the ruler. He had nobles live amoung him in Versae outside of France to gain more power as the nobles lost there power. Catherine II, otherwise known as Catherine the great, used her feminine "powers" to convey and convince other people in order to get more power for herself. Peter I, otherwise known as Peter the Great, was another great leader, as he went on trips as a normal civilian to find out things to best run his country. He went on spy trips disguised as a normal poor man in which he would figure out ways other kings would rule in order to better his own country.

The three absolute rulers from Europe we have looked at so far use the same techniques to gain power. They built their living quarters outside of the cities they were taxing so they could avoid the mobs. Then, they brought nobility to where they are living so the nobility has to stay loyal to them. Louis and Peter both used this to gain more power. Once the nobility was in the king's living quarters they were subjected to start behaving and dressing like the king or else they would be looked down on.

Each of the rulers had absolute power in their country, and ruled with an iron grip, with control over all aspects of the government and most of society. Both Peter 1 and Catherine 2 were both known as "The Great" and both worked to expand Russia's borders to increase their power. Both Peter 1 and Louis XIV also had control over the nobles, as they could restrict them to prevent an uprising against themselves. Both Peter 1 and Catherine 2 also worked to improve culture in Russia, as Peter strove to "westernize" Russia and Catherine worked to improve art, literature, and theater.

Peter the I, Louis the XIV, and Catherine the Great are all similar in that they tried to rule with absolute power by taking power from the nobles. They got their names from their followers that they helped which was often the higher class. Catherine and Peter wanted to help make Russia more Western and civilized by educating and getting them more involved in the arts. They also influenced people by giving them special treatment if they followed their lifestyle, such as shaving their beards or making them wear wigs.

They are all similar in the way that they had complete control of their nobles. This gave them more control over their country as a whole. They would also have a form of representatives that were completely loyal to the king/queen. Louis XIV forced the nobles to live in his own house with him. This made it hard to plot against him or make changes without his approval. Peter I would reward his nobles for “good work” by giving them ownership of land with serfs. Catherine II would extend the serfs for the nobles and reward them the same way as Peter. All having complete control over nobles gave each ruler an advantage to ruling.

The 3 absolute rulers Louis XIV, Peter I and Catherine II are similar because they were all rulers that were great. Louis and Peter both ruled the same way except Peter took it a step further and tried to become Pope. They all were rulers that only the nobles really thought that they were great leaders, but they all treated the lower classes badly. Catherine took over the throne after he had his husband killed because he was a little too immature for her and she wanted to rule. They all were power happy and it didn’t end well for any of them.

Louis XIV was a strong ruler that took power from nobles and strengthed France. He took political and reliogous freedom from the hugonots by attacting them for a whole year. He took power from the nobles by making them live with him outside. Peter the first/ Great, helped out the hugnots by giving them all types of freedom. He changed Russia to be more like West. He also ruled alone by the time that he was 17 years old, and he went around pretending to be a normal person just to learn about western life and culture. Catherine II or Catherine the Great, she expanded serfdom all around. She supported art, lit., and theater greatly. She also extends Russia to contain the Black Sea along with warm water ports.

Louis XIV (Sun God), Peter I (The Great), and Catherine II ("The Great") all ruled for at least 30 years. Louis XIV & Peter I were against more power for Nobility though Catherine II just gave them more power and money.

Catherine II, Peter the 1st and Louis the XIV were all similar as they were all absolute rulers. They all did military improvements and they modernized their countries. Louis the XIV made France a powerful country and made French the official language of commerce. Because of France being really powerful, Peter the Great was inspired by France to westernize Russia so he made some similar advancements. So, Elizabeth continued the work of Peter the Great. All the rulers had absolute power, Louis made the nobles live with him. Peter forced the nobles to live in St. Peters-burg and Catherine gave the land she conquered to nobles and made everybody serfs. Catherine also helped with the murder of her husband and really took control of Russia.

First of all, these three rulers are similar because they are all absolute rulers from Europe. They all had policies in place that took power away from the Nobles. These policies included having the nobles live either with him in the same house or with him in the same city/town. They had them dress like them to gain his favor. If they gained his favor, then they would be more likely to be rewarded with things such as money. These rulers also took inspiration from western culture when they had a revamp in their respective societies. They rulers each extended their lands and pushed for new land.

The three greats of Europe (Louis, Peter, and Catherine) were all absolute rulers that took power from the nobles all while gaining their praise. All of the absolute leaders obviously had absolute power over the entire country, and not so obviously they didn’t exactly do too much for the poorer folks. In russia Peter and Catherine made it so that basically everyone was a surf that could be gifted off to a noble of they did enough work for the czar, while over in France Louis decided to tax everyone. All of the greats also had dreams about obtaining more land and they actually did, while starting some problems (France getting too close to Germany/Poland being annihilated)

As an absolute ruler, each seemed power-hungry, as Louis XIV built Versailles and had many attendants, particularly nobles, living with him to watch over him, in a sense. Peter I built St. Petersburg, where he ‘forced’ nobles to live. Catherine and Peter were very favored by nobles, which is how they got their names, ‘The Great.’ Louis name, ‘The Sun King’ came from his idea of being chosen by God to reign, though he didn’t end up doing much ‘reigning’. All three rulers applied laws and tactics to try and better their country, but mostly for the upper class. Additionally, Peter tried to follow the examples of Louis XIV.

Louis XIV, Peter I, and Catherine II were all rulers that expanded and changed the empire for the better. They were all called “The Great” even though they were not liked by all the people in the land. Mostly only nobility were forced to like them. They also set a lot of trends among the nobility. They all believed that the nobility should all live together and near the ruler. They all tried to get the best land that will bring them the most profit and comfort.

Louis XIV and Peter the Great were similar in that they both built imaculate cities and palaces, Versailles and St. Petersburg. They also both made the nobles from each of their countries live in the places that they built. In addition to that, they both became rulers of their countries when they were very young, this lead to them wanting absolute power however they could get it.

The absolute rulers of Europe, Louis XIV, Peter I, and Catherine II, are similar in many ways. Such as they all found a way to control the nobles, Louis made them live with him in Versaces, Peter made them all move to St. Petersburg, and Catherine satisfied the nobles using her feminine abilities to make them route for her succession of the crown after her husband Peter III was killed (mysteriously). They were all respected greatly by the nobles because in their own way they made the nobles respect or like them. They all had a name that there referred to after their life to describe how great they were. For example, Peter the Great (given to him by his people), and Catherine the Great (more likely given by the nobles not the people).

These three rulers all have one general common interest, directing all power to the monarchy. This concept is called absolutism and it enforces power to the king, taking it from the nobles and the church and giving it to themselves. Louis XIV and Catherine II in particular had a lot in common as she took a lot of inspiration from Louis’s way of ruling, one of the most noticeable similarities being the concept of merit governing. In this system, people were rewarded for government services with land and serfs. This enslaved a vast majority of these kings’ people and caused them to have a good reputation with only the noble class. In turn, all these rulers were named after the noble population and they received names like Catherine the Great, The Sun God, and Peter the Great.

Peter I (Peter the Great) and Louis XIV (The Sun King) are very similar. They both began ruling at a very young age and greatly influenced their countries.Peter went “undercover” in the shipyards to see what’s going on. When Peter I came back to Russia, he fought Sweden and built St. Petersburg. He made St. Petersburg the capital, and required the nobility move there with him. Much like Louis XIV because he built the Palace of Versailles so he could tax the Paris residents and had the nobles move into the palace with him. Louis also wore wigs often and the nobles followed to gain his favor. In an attempt to become more western, Peter did kind of the same thing. He had the men shave their beards and if you did you gained his favor. Peter also had a system for rewarding the nobles that did good deeds. If they pleased him they got land with serfs.

All three of these rulers were obtained absolute power. Louis XIV, known as the “Sun God”, was in rule for over 70 years. He built his home the Versailles outside of Paris, so he could tax the people there and be in no danger. He had his whole court live and do his routines alongside him for his whole life. Peter the Great was another leader that observed other rulers and communities to better rule his own. Catherine II, or Catherine the Great, used her femininity to gain control and power.
